Seminar description and aims: The marginalization of various groups in society has detrimental effects on individuals' wellbeing and freedoms. The media, as an important societal resource, can play an important role (positive or negative) in enabling individuals from marginalized populations. In this seminar, we will examine various marginalized populations in Israel and explore their mediated interactions, focusing on access, usage, and representations. By exploring the unique media experiences of various groups, we will gain a better understanding of the role of media in society and a better understanding of the overall opportunities currently available for individuals from marginalized populations in an ever-increasing mediated world.
